Salary averages by age group

Each year, we break down average salaries across key age brackets. In 2025, the data once again reveals where industry investment is being focused.

  • Ages 24 and under earned an average of £38,941, reflecting a 0.7%increase from last year.
  • Ages 25–35 received a modest increase, with average earnings now at £66,636, up 2.8%.
  • Ages 36–45 saw the biggest jump of 6.7%, bringing the average salary to £79,765.
  • Professionals aged 46+ experienced a small rise – just 0.8%, reaching an average of £93,530.

Once again, we’re seeing a significant focus on mid-level career professionals, especially those in emerging immersive tech roles and heading for management or senior leadership. As the sector grows, businesses seem keen to invest in future potential and fast-growing skill sets.

Salary growth over time

Looking at salaries over the past few years, the trajectory continues upward.

Despite the economic uncertainty and industry restructuring that carried over from 2024, the sector has remained resilient. Pay trends indicate that companies are recognising the value of specialist skills, particularly in immersive content creation, game design and XR engineering.

Changes in salary over the past 12 months

We asked professionals how their salaries changed compared to the previous year:

  • 51% saw a pay increase
  • 44% reported no change
  • 5% experienced a decrease

The majority of immersive and gaming professionals saw their pay rise over the last year – a promising sign that employers are recognising the value of top talent. Meanwhile, 44% reported no change in salary, suggesting a cautious approach from companies navigating uncertain market conditions. Only 5% faced a decrease, a small but notable group that highlights the ongoing pressure some businesses still face post-layoffs and restructuring.
