Salaries – are they on the rise?
It’s a salary survey, so let’s talk numbers! In 2024, 53% of our respondents working in immersive tech and gaming reported receiving a pay rise in the last 12 months. What has happened since? Unfortunately, our latest data shows that this figure has dropped to just 33%. This decline reflects the challenges currently facing the industry, including economic pressures, budget cuts and shifts in investment priorities.
Fully remote or hybrid working – what’s the preferred setup?
Last year, 60% of respondents said they worked best in a fully remote setup. However, there has been a shift. Now, 75% prefer a hybrid model, while 25% still favour fully remote work. This shift highlights an increased demand for flexible working arrangements, with many professionals now seeking a balance between home and in-office collaboration.
Have workloads increased?
The workload in the immersive and gaming industry is on the rise. In 2024, respondents ranked their workload at 6.4 out of 10. This year, that number has increased to 7.7, with 10 indicating an extremely heavy workload. This shift suggests that professionals in the sector are facing mounting pressures, whether due to tighter project deadlines, increasing client demands or workforce reductions leading to heavier individual workloads.
