The Role
As a Game Designer, you will be responsible for proposing new types and formats of games, collaborating with brands and intellectual properties, and shaping the direction of the company's game portfolio. You will need to have creative vision, strategic thinking, and knowledge of market trends to drive and explore new and exciting opportunities for the business, allowing you to be at the forefront of innovation. Some of what you will be doing:
- Designing creative game concepts and prototypes, considering the target audience
- Researching market trends, player preferences, and emerging technologies for game concepts and formats
- Translating new game proposals into high-level design documents, including feature specs, level design, game workflows
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, game designers, artists, engineers, and producers to refine ideas into proposals
- Evaluate and recommend potential collaborations with intellectual property and brands that align with the company vision and target audience
- Creating pitch materials and presentations to advocate for new games/ideas and collaborations
- Working closely with licensing teams and legal advisors to ensure compliance and secure necessary partnerships/licenses
- Perform market research and competitive analysis to understand the landscape and inform decision-making
- Contribute to the game design process by providing insight and feedback on existing projects
- Collaborate with game design teams to iterate on improving gameplay systems, difficulty curves and player progression
- Collaborate with production teams to define and meet project deadlines
Ideally, your skills and experience will include:
- 5 years as a Game Designer, a proven track record of proposing and developing successful game concepts
- Knowledge of metagame systems and best practices in Mobile Games
- Unreal Engine
- Working on multi-platform games
- Using data, analytics, and other validation to inform game and system tuning
- Understanding game design principles, mechanics, and player psychology
- Ability to identify market opportunities and trends by analysing and researching
- A passion for gaming, a keen eye for innovation and engaging gameplay experiences
