Senior Gameplay Programmer - Combat/Enemy System focus

Location: London (Hybrid - 2 days in studio per week)
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000

A leading AAA games studio is looking for a Senior Gameplay Programmer to join a small, highly collaborative gameplay team. This is a hands-on programming role where you'll help shape core combat and enemy systems for an upcoming title, while also mentoring and reviewing the work of peers.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, refine, and maintain gameplay systems with a focus on combat and enemy AI behaviours.

  • Write clean, performant C++ code and provide constructive code reviews for teammates.

  • Collaborate closely with designers, artists, and other programmers to deliver engaging gameplay experiences.

  • Support the refactoring and modernisation of legacy gameplay systems into Unreal Engine 5.

  • Prototype new gameplay mechanics and iterate based on feedback from the wider team.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Gameplay Programmer in a AAA development environment.

  • At least one shipped AAA title.

  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Unreal Engine (UE4/UE5).

  • Hands-on experience building and optimising combat mechanics (melee, ranged, abilities, targeting, combos, etc.).

  • Solid understanding of enemy AI systems, including behaviours, state machines, decision trees, and pathfinding.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing or building new gameplay systems from scratch.

  • Background in rapid prototyping and iteration of core mechanics.

Rocksteady is looking for an exceptionally talented Lead Rendering
Programmer to join our team working on our upcoming unannounced AAA title.

This role will involve leading a team of expert rendering programmers to extend
and optimise our engine and achieve the artistic vision set by Art Director, while
ensuring the content creation pipelines are efficient and game performance is
consistently high.

You will report to the Engine Code Director and collaborate with other code and
art leads to ensure the solutions we build are effective, identify and resolve
bottlenecks that other teams have. Working and managing the team every day,
the Lead Rendering Programmer will enforce and inform the Engine Code
Director's vision for the project, hold reviews and provide feedback to the team,
lead-by-example, and push the boundaries of rendering for video games.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with the Engine Code Director, Art Director and other leads to
understand and establish their vision and communicate this to the team.

Support the rendering programmers on your team, through regular one-on-
ones, development conversations and performance reviews.

Be a role-model for your team by emphasizing project and company goals,
providing feedback on performance and mentoring.

Manage the rendering code schedule and bugs to minimise risk and ensure
smooth running of the department.

Oversee, advise and drive the whole rendering team to ensure quality results
and efficient working practices.

Keep up to date with industry trends in rendering to ensure our rendering
tech is competitive.

Work with artists to interpret their creative direction and build rendering code
to achieve it.

Work closely with the Engine Code Director to plan and implement new
rendering features.

Implement rendering features to a high quality.

Technical Requirements

Excellent 3D maths skills.

Proficient graphics background with knowledge of cutting-edge rendering
techniques.

Advanced understanding of current graphics hardware, APIs and shader
programming languages.

Strong understanding in C/C++.

Excellent profiling & optimisation skills, understanding of hardware
bottlenecks and ways to overcome them.

Experience working with latest generation of consoles (PS5 / Xbox Series X/S).

LiveOps / Retention Manager

Location: Remote (CET/MENA preferred)
Employment: Full-time

About the Role:
We're looking for a LiveOps / Retention Manager to own the player lifecycle of our project — from pre-alpha to global launch and beyond. You'll lead event design, optimize retention systems, gather player feedback during testing phases, and align closely with marketing to define the best rollout schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage in-game events, seasonal content, and engagement loops
     

  • Track and improve key retention metrics (D1, D7, D30, LTV, churn)
     

  • Gather and interpret player feedback during pre-alpha, beta, and live phases
     

  • Work closely with marketing to coordinate LiveOps and launch schedules
     

  • Develop player segmentation and personalization strategies
     

  • Support game balance, updates, and player-facing initiatives post-launch
     

Requirements:

  • 3+ years in LiveOps, player lifecycle, or game product management
     

  • Proven experience managing pre-alpha/beta launches and user feedback loops
     

  • Strong analytical skills (Amplitude, Tableau, Looker, etc.)
     

  • Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams (product, design, marketing)
     

  • Bonus: hands-on experience in F2P or hybrid monetization environments
