This impressive move from Microsoft is likely to play on the minds of gamers who are unsure of which console to purchase and could impact PS5 sales, help maximise its Game pass sales and push Xbox’s position as the go-to console for gamers.
The move will no doubt give Xbox the edge over PS5, however, Microsoft has said that they believed in the ability to connect, empower, and bring joy. This suggests that PS5 may not miss out on the big-name titles, despite the tradition of making games exclusive when a console owns a publisher.
“We share a deep belief in the fundamental power of games, in their ability to connect, empower, and bring joy. And a belief we should bring that to everyone – regardless of who you are, where you live, or what you play on. Regardless of the screen size, the controller, or your ability to even use one,” Said Todd Howard, Director of Bethesda Games.
Bethesda are responsible for iconic titles such as: Elder Scrolls, TES Online, Fallout, Wolfenstein, DOOM, Dishonoured, The Evil Within, Prey Game, rage, Quake and Starfield Game.
