Average Immersive & Gaming Salaries by age bracket
We typically break down average salaries by age brackets, and in 2024, we’ve seen increases in every category!
- Professionals aged 24 and under got a boost of 3.7%, now making an average of £38,642– which is one of the largest increases across the age categories!
- The 25 – 35 category received the largest increase of 4.4%, bringing their average to £64,850.
- The 36 – 45 group experienced an increase of only 1.1%, averaging their salaries at £74,697.
- However, the 46+ group weren’t so lucky. They received the lowest increase of the group – only a 0.7% increase from last year, landing at £93,846 on average.
It’s great to see everyone receiving a salary increase, but it appears that the Immersive and Gaming industry is directing its investments predominantly towards junior and mid-level professionals, rather than those further along in their careers.
This trend may stem from the industry’s novelty, particularly in immersive tech, which is attracting a younger demographic seeking career opportunities within it.
Average Immersive & Gaming salaries throughout the years
Moving on to immersive & gaming salaries over the past few years, we’ve observed an overall increase here too.
The data reveals positive progress in fair compensation within the immersive tech and gaming sector!
This is especially meaningful given the challenges faced in 2023 and the first half of 2024, including widespread layoffs. Despite these difficulties, it’s encouraging to see companies acknowledging the value of their remaining employees by offering deserving salaries.
How did salaries change in the last 12 months?
We asked our respondents to share how their salaries have changed over the past year.
Just over half of our respondents (53%) mentioned an increase in their salary, while 38% reported no change, and 9% experienced a decrease.
Interestingly, last year, only 4% reported a salary decrease. This prompts the question: are immersive & gaming professionals striving to maintain job security, perhaps even accepting pay cuts to do so?
