New gaming portal: Transformers: Heavy Metal x Pokémon Go!
What do you get when you put 80’s mega toy transformers together with Niantic? An incredibly map-heavy geolocation-centric game. Niantic, the Cali-based software developers best known for developing the augmented reality mobile games including Ingress, Pokémon Go, and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite has done just that.
It’s still early days, so we have tracked down a few snippets of what is yet to come.
The new game, Transformers: Heavy Metal has opened its gates to the ‘guardian network’ as we speak! Firstly, if you are wondering when will it become available in your area? The game will launch on iOS and Android later this year and is due to enter soft launch ‘soon. The beta will become available to test in only selected markets.
Next fact! Transformers: Heavy Metal is not only being built in collaboration with Hasbro, TOMY and Seattle game team Very Very Spaceship. The game is being developed with the Niantic Lightship Augmented Reality Developer Kit. This means the same core technology and worldwide data used in Pokémon for users to discover different locations around supported regions will be used across the new game.
Another one… this is a game-changer from the original catching and bashing adorable Pokémon’s. Players will now be members of the “Guardian Network”. According to the announcement, this is a collective of humans who have been banded together with the Autobots in a war against deceptions. This means you will explore the real world, finding hidden gems in regions filled with the resources you need. You will also face deceptions, taking it in turns either on your own or in a team with friends.
